Scoring System Chart
The 19 Man Starting Lineup and The 13 Man Counted Lineup
Each week, 19 players from each BPFL team’s roster are submitted to the statistician as the starting lineup for use in the head to head weekly matchup for that week. Those 19 players can be made up of any denomination the team chooses, provided that among those players they have enough at each position to accomodate a 13 player counted lineup that is used in game scoring. The 13 player counted lineup for game scoring is broken down as follows:
QB - 1
RB - 2
WR - 2
TE - 1
K - 1
DL - 2
LB - 2
DB - 2
Total 13
The 13 players used in this counted lineup are the best of the 19 players submitted by each team in their starting lineups. At positions where more than the required amount of counters was submitted (eg. 3 RB's), the best score(s) needed to fill the counted slot are registered in the 13 player lineup, and the remaining players are discarded from counting.
The
extra 18 or so slots on top of those used in weekly matchups are
meant for use in developing young stars who aren’t ready for the
bigs yet, as well as supplying backup slots in case of bye weeks
and injury. If you have a particular position for which you
can’t field the required amount of players for a matchup, it is
up to you to make a deal for a replacement or play with an
inactive player in your starting lineup.
Lineup Submission Deadline
Each weekly lineup is due by the kickoff time of that week’s first NFL game. Failure to notify the statistician of one’s lineup in time will result in the statistician reverting to your past week’s lineup for use in that week’s games. With that same deadline in use for both the statisticians to update stats as well as the final cut-off for weekly trades, it will serve as a good time for all teams to inquire on the news within the league.
Of
note, a $5 stupidity fine has been imposed for any team which
mistakenly starts a player on his bye week. The player
must stay in the lineup through the week's games as punishment,
and the $5 fine paid by the stupid owner will go towards pizza
purchases made at one of the league's annual meetings.
Lineup Substitutions
BPFL GMs can
substitute players in and out of their lineups after the
submission deadline, as long as the player going in and the
player coming out play the same BPFL position, and both players
have not yet played in an NFL game that week.
Substitutions must be submitted by kickoff of the first game a
related player is playing in. There is no limit to how
many of these substitutions a GM can make. No specific
reason must be given for making a substitution - it is
completely at the GMs discretion.
Determining the Score of the Game
Using home field advantage, coaches, and the 19 man rosters submitted weekly by each team during the BPFL season, teams go head to head in matchups corresponding with the BPFL schedule for that season. These 19 man rosters (explained in Section 2 - Rosters) are filled with appointed players who score points for their team each week using a custom designed BPFL scoring system. After the 13 man counted player list, home field advantage, and coaching points are calculated, the team with the most total points in the weekly matchup wins.
Specific Rules of Note
Home Field Advantage:
Automatic 4 points for the designated home team in the regular season and playoffs.
The
only exception to that rule is each of the two divisional
winners from the regular season get a 10 point home field
advantage in the first round of the playoffs. These
extra home field points apply only to the two division winners,
and only in the first round.
Coaches:
5 points for a win in that NFL week
2 points for a tie in that NFL week
0
points for a loss in that NFL week
