Section 10 - Prizes and Finances

Prize Pool and Payouts

Currently, the yearly cost of the pool for each team is $125 for the season, including playoffs. The money is managed by the league statistician, and can be paid in whole or in 5 part installments from months August through December. This gives us a pool of $1000.00 for prize money to be divided in the following way:

Regular season

Division Winners - $150.00 each division

First Overall in The Whole League - $150.00 Bonus

Team with most points scored during the regular season - $150.00 Bonus

Total - $600.00

Super Bowl

Super Bowl Winner - $300.00

Super Bowl Runner-Up - $100.00

Total Purse - $1000.00

Weekly $5 Points Pool

From weeks 1 to 14 (13 regular season weeks and 1st round of playoffs), the team scoring the least amount of points in that week will pay $5 into the league fund.  If there is a tie for the lowest points, both teams will pay the $5 fee accordingly.  This fund will accumulate a minimum total of $70 by year's end, and will be allotted to the League Account and go towards league expenses and purchases.

League Account  updated

To ensure the League secures team dues and other payments properly, a League Account has been created to hold this money through the year.  The account will be used to store and pay out dues and winnings, but will also store funds generated by league fines, the weekly $5 points pool ($70), and interest drawn from the account through the year (approx $15-$20).

Each year - after paying website expenses of roughly $30 - the League expects to generate roughly $60-$70 of surplus.  The spending of that money will be determined by an ownership vote at each season's annual draft and GM meeting in August.

Starting in 2011, the team that volunteers to host the BPFL Entry Draft and GM Meetings will receive a $50 subsidy from the league account to help cover the cost of food, supplies, etc.

Starting in 2016, if the league suffers a financial loss in any given season, each team shall be given a one-time assessment equivalent to 1/8 of the amount of the loss.  These assessments will be processed at the beginning of the following season when league dues are due.
