The BPFL Constitution – An Introduction

Introduction

Welcome to the best fantasy football league known to mankind, The Beer and Pizza Football League (BPFL). Introduced originally as the brainchild of two hung over and pathetic football watchers on a New Year’s Day long ago, the football league of our dreams is now polished and fully prepared for the inaugural season beginning with week one in the National Football League, 1998.

You have been chosen as a team owner in the BPFL for a variety of reasons. First of all, your knowledge of the NFL meets the league’s supreme standards.  Second, you enjoy sports pools and can appreciate aspects of management and strategy in sport rather than just the point spreads.  Third, we’re all mutual friends and what better way to ensure that we all keep in touch than something concerning pro sports.

The last and most important reason you came to mind is that you are basically dedicated and reliable people. For this pool to work well we have to be sure that there is a good balance from team to team throughout the league. All of us are able to combine both easy going and fun aspects of the league with a competitive and mildly serious side, all of which will ensure a great league and a good time.

The Beer and Pizza Football League has eight members, and therefore eight directors and eight votes each weighed equally. Please present any ideas you may have for bettering the league no matter how far fetched.

So from this point on, brag, cry, drink, and enjoy.

The Constitution

The meaning behind the BPFL Constitution is this: it is law. Like any constitution it can be both debated and amended. As one of the eight league owners, each of us has an equal vote on all league issues and rules, and each of us have an equal right to suggest what improvements and possible rule adjustments would help the league.

In the voting process, even votes will result in maintaining the status quo. An owner can also abstain from the voting process altogether if he chooses. It is probably best for all major requests for change to be handled at the GM’s meetings each summer, but certainly if an issue is felt to be important it can be handled at any time.
